Earlier we said Range Rover Evoque SUV lands in India by the end of 2011. But it’s shocking to know that Range Rover Evoque has got off to a bumper start in India as dealerships across India have received several enquiries that have now turned into full-fledged bookings. Industry sources suggest that the first lot of cars have already been sold out and those bookings for the next lot will only commence early next year.
Range Rover Evoque SUV will be imported to India via the CBU route and is expected to cost over Rs. 50 Lakh. It will be available with both diesel and petrol variants, but major proportion of the sales though are expected to come from diesel versions. The 2.2-litre diesel producing 190 bhp is identical to the one found on the locally assembled Land Rover Freelander 2 HSE. The diesel version will be offered in the five-door format while the 2.0-litre turbo petrol producing 237 bhp will come as a three-door.
Jaguar-Land Rover has started assembling some of their cars in India and we could see more products being imported in to the country as completely knocked down units. The Evoque would be available in three variants ‘Pure’, ‘Dynamic’, ‘Prestige’ with the Dynamic variant getting more sporty bits, while the Pure trim may not be offered to Indian customers.
