Piaggio India have reportedly postponed the launch of their much-awaited maxi-scooter, the Aprilia Storm 125 to the Indian market. The Italian company were rumoured to be launching the scooter in the upcoming festive season. Aprillia showcased the Storm 125 at the 2018 Auto Expo which was held in February.
Reports claimed that the announcement took place because of the information regarding the new brake tech. Initially, Aprilia were hesitant on launching a non-CBS (Combi Braking System) version of the Storm 125. But with government rules, which forces all two wheelers to be compulsorily fitted with CBS, Aprilia decided to postpone its launch.
Hence, the company will launch the Storm 125 in a CBS variant soon, according to reports. The Storm 125 will be powered by a 124.49cc, single-cylinder engine, also seen on the SR125. This engine is capable of delivering 9 BHP of power and 9.9 Nm of torque.
We can expect Aprilia to give the Storm 125 at a slightly higher price tag compared to the SR125, which costs Rs. 65,310 (ex-showroom, Delhi). The Storm 125 will rival the likes of the Honda Grazia, TVS NTorq and Aprilia’s very own SR125. We can expect the scooter to be launched here by early-2019.
