2016 Mercedes GLG Class

Mercedes GLG class is popularly known as “Baby G-Wagen”. It has been designed by using Mercedes FWD architecture. The price of this car is expected to be around Rs 22 lakhs. Mercedes has planned to launch the Mini G-Wagen in order to compete the upcoming replacement for Land Rover Defender. It is speculated to be designed in traditional way with boxed tailights, spare wheel mounted at the rear keeping in minds its superior aerodynamics.

Furthermore, Mercedes is believed to power this car with a front-wheel-drive, whereas all-wheel-drive will also be available. The company might use the same engines found in A-Class and B-Class i.e 1.6- and 2.0-liter gasoline engines and four diesels including a 204-horsepower 2.1-liter engine.  The modification expected may be the revised front-axle, 7-speed transmission, power steering and powerful brakes.

It will be designed by giving it a fresh look by using smaller engines with a more powerful AMG version. The GLG class would be a utility-oriented model which would increased in height, narrower and very robust than the traditional 34-year old G class. If this project is signed then one can expect to see the compact Mercedes-Benz SUV in showrooms by 2016.
