Recently the all-new third-generation Hyundai i20 was spotted on public roads in South Korea completely without any disguise. The new set of spy shots shows the paint scheme in platinum silver.
The 2021 Hyundai i20 sports an edgier look on the exterior that is part of the design philosophy of the company’s ‘Sensual Sportiness’. It has trapezoidal headlamp sweptback clusters of DRLs in V-shaped LEDs. The front bumper features a slim air dam on both side and triangular fog lamp pods.
At the rear, the new Hyundai i20 gets wraparound tail lights with a reflector strip connecting the two clusters of tail lamps. It has a dual-tone rear bumper under the rear windshield, and a glossy black trim. The 2021 i20 also has chrome trim lining on the lower edge of the windshield, shark fin antenna, and 17-inch dual tone alloy rims.
Surprisingly, the 2021 Hyundai i20 features a classier interior in a familiar shape. Featuring a large floating touchscreen panel with BlueLink, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, while in top-spec trims Hyundai will also provide satellite navigation, voice command, 8-speaker Bose audio, wireless charger and an full-digital instrument cluster.
The new 2021 Hyundai i20 will be available on the international market with four options for petrol engines. These include a 1.2-liter, 4-cyl engine producing 83 BHP @ 6,000 rpm and 118 Nm @ 4,000 rpm, a 1.0-liter, 3-cyl turbocharged engine with 99 BHP @ 6,000 rpm and 172 Nm @ 1,500 rpm, and a 1.0-liter, 3-cyl engine with a 48V mild hybrid system that comes in two tuning states – 99 BHP/ 172 Nm and 118 BHP/ 200 Nm. Transmission options include manual 5-speed, manual 6-speed, and automatic dual-clutch 7-speed.
In September-2020, Hyundai India is expected to officially launch the 2021 Hyundai i20 in the country. The new i20 would probably be priced in the range between INR 5.75-9.50 lakh (ex-showroom). It will compete with the new Altroz compact hatchback by Tata Motors, the long-running Polo by Volkswagen, the Baleno by Maruti Suzuki (as well as the Glanza by Toyota) and the new revised BS6 Jazz by Honda Car India.
