BMW India has confirmed the launch of the new X3 (codenamed F25) on the 25th of August, 2011. At the launch event, the president of BMW India, Dr. Andreas Schaaf will unveil the car and will address the media. The launch will take place in Pune, India.
BMW X3 (F25) will be offered only with diesel engines and the petrol variants are expected later. Two variants we can expect are the xDrive20d with a 2.0 litre churning 184hp &380Nm and xDrive30d with 3.0 Litre 258hp/560Nm. These engines are also strapped on other models like the X1, 3 Series and 5 Series. The new BMW X3 comes with permanent four-wheel drive technology BMW xDrive as standard.
The new X3 will feature start-stop or Micro Hybrid technology for better fuel efficiency and lower emission. The X3 may also feature a Dynamic Drive Control, panaromic sunroof, keyless entry, electronic parking brake and many other modern features to make it more attractive for buyers. While a Top end models come with features such as Head Up Display, parking cameras, adaptive headlights with range control, etc.
BMW X3 will be similar to X1 and X5 via body shape which will be longer, taller and wider. The X3 is a capable and feature packed soft-roader SUV and comes loaded with features. BMW X3 will be directly competing against Volvo XC60, Land Rover Freelander, and the Audi Q5. It is widely believed the starting price of the X3 SAV will start from Rs 41-lakhs.
