Nissan Sylphy to hit Indian shores by 2014

Last month, Nissan unveiled their new global compact sedan named Sylphy at the 2012 Beijing Auto Show in China which is already being sold in the car market of North America under the name Sentra. Now Nissan Motors has revealed that the company is planning to bring its new global compact sedan, the Sylphy to India by 2014.

The Nissan Sylphy is the perfect entrant in the D-segment which is anticipated to range from Rs. 14 lakh. It will be positioned between the Sunny and the Teana and pitches against the Toyota Corolla and Honda Civic, as we reported earlier. The Sylphy is the newest global member of Nissan that has joined the executive saloon segment of the car markets across the globe.

According to the car maker, the car is roomier when compared with the other saloons in its class. The materials used in the making of this car are superior in quality and infuse more luxury feel to the car. Apart from the interiors graced with decorative panels of wood on the centre console, it also includes dual-zone air condition and keyless ignition.

Under the hood, it will be powered by a 1.8-litre petrol engine mated to six-speed manual and the next generation XTRONIC Continuously Variable Tranmission (CVT) gearbox. The Xtronic CVT aids in improving the performance and fuel efficiency of the car. It has also been speculated that the engine of Renault Fluence which is 1.5-liter K9K diesel engine capable of generating a peak power of 108bhp which also does duty in the Fluence.
