Datsun Go and Go+ to receive CVT transmission later this-month

Datsun will be giving two of their products, the Go and Go+ a CVT transmission. This is due to the consumer preference of automatics over manual transmissions. As per reports, the CVT-equipped Go and Go+ will be unveiled during the second half of this month.

The Go and Go+ have not been giving sales numbers for Datsun. The Japanese automaker will look on pulling some demand back for both models. Hence, they look on cashing in the growing automatic transmission market by introducing the CVT-equipped versions of both cars.

The Go and Go+ will feature a CVT transmission seen on the Nissan Micra. Both are powered by a 1.2 litre, three-cylinder motor. It can produce 67 BHP of power along with 104 Nm of torque.

Along with the addition of a CVT, the Go and Go+ are expected to receive minor cosmetic changes. There could also be the addition of a few features to make it desirable amongst the competition. We can expect information regarding it to be coming out soon.

Datsun could tinker a bit with the pricing of both models, which would still make them an affordable pick. The Go and Go+ rival the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Wagon-R, Hyundai Santro, Tata Tiago and the Renault Kwid. Launch is expected to happen in October, co-inciding with the festive season here.
