Nissan Evalia MPV to be launched in August, this year

The Japanese car maker, Nissan in India recently unveiled its exotic MPV sensation, christened as Nissan Evalia or Nissan NV200 at the Auto Expo Delhi, 2012. There is a buzz in the auto-industry that the car maker will launch this MPV in August, 2012. It is expected that Evalia would be brought in the domestic auto market in a diesel engine option and would have arrangement of seven seats (2 + 3 + 2).

In addition, the middle row of this car will have sliding gates. In global market, this car has been quite commendable in terms of sales. With the arrival of Evalia on Indian shores, Nissan would to strengthen itself in the MPV segment as well. This MPV is expected to be produced at the Oragadam production facility near Chennai and is projected to come in the price tag range of Rs. 8 – 10 lakh.

Under the hood, it will be powered by a well proven 1.5-litre K9K engine that is developed by the French automobile unit and Nissan’s global partner, Renault S.A, which will have outstanding power of either 85bhp with 200Nm torque or might have peak power of 105bhp with 240Nm torque. Evalia can be expected to compete with some of the outstanding MPVs in India like, Toyota Innova, Mahindra Xylo, Tata Sumo Grande and Mahindra Bolero.

Ashok Leyland, the commercial vehicle manufacturer will take the responsibility to sell this MPV in the Indian sub-continent. Furthermore, Ashok Leyland is also expected to sell the load carrying variant (the Stile) of this MPV along with its passenger carrying variants. Moreover, to curtail down the fuel cost, the company is also looking forward to introduce a CNG variant of this car.
