Ford are working on the next generation of the Aspire compact sedan and it’s hatchback sibling, the Figo. The Figo and Aspire, sold as the Ka and Ka sedan in Brazil, will be available in their next generations soon. This is according to a report from Ford’s South American subsidiary.
The Ka and Ka sedan do sell in decent numbers in Brazil, and Ford will want to keep the momentum going. The next generations of both models will be considered for markets in Europe and Asia. It looks likely that the Figo and Aspire will be coming in their new iterations by 2021.
There is talk that the next generation of the Figo and Aspire will be underpinned by the existing platform. Despite that, both will have some changes in dimensions and design. This may mean that there would be more additional features to make it a desirable pick.
The Ka and Ka sedan will be powered by an improved 1.0 litre petrol motor. There will also be a 1.5 litre bi-fuel (petrol and ethanol) motor on the Brazil-spec model. The India-spec models will likely be powered by the existing set of engines.
The is no information yet on whether the next generation of the Freestyle cross-over is developed for India. Sold as the Ka Freestyle, it will also be employing the same platform as the Figo and Aspire. It is been reported that this platform will also spawn the next-gen Ecosport.
Detailed information regarding these models could be coming out soon. The Figo and Aspire in their next iterations, are expected to be priced well when launched. Ford will hope that both models will create a similar impact compared to the first-gen Figo in sales.
