Skoda will be introducing the next generation of the Octavia to the global market soon. The fourth-generation Octavia is set for an official unveiling on November 11. It is expected to arrive on Indian shores early next-year.
However, just days before its unveil, Skoda revealed a few specifications of the next-generation Octavia. It will be underpinned by the Volkswagen Group’s famed MQB platform. The next-generation Octavia will be 15mm wider and 19mm longer compared to the current model.
On the other hand, it will have its wheelbase decreased by 2mm. The fourth-generation Octavia will have a long list of features going with it. Some of these include a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster, rear parking sensors, central locking system, ISOFIX child seat mounts and so on.
The India-spec version of the vehicle will employ a 1.5 litre TSI petrol engine. It will also be available in an updated version of the 2.0 litre diesel engine. Both these engines come mated either to a manual or an automatic transmission.
The vRS version of the Octavia will feature a tuned version of the 2.0 litre TSI petrol motor. Skoda is set to commence its ‘India 2.0’ operations with sister company Volkswagen soon. This would mean that we could see affordable products coming out from the Skoda pipeline here soon.
Since the upcoming Skoda’s will have decent amounts of localisation, we can expect it to rub off on the next-generation Octavia as well. However, it is estimated that the Octavia will be priced between the Rs.15-20 lakh mark. It will be rivaling other premium sedans such as the Toyota Corolla Altis, Honda Civic and the Hyundai Elantra.
