Mercedes-Benz will launch the 3rd generation of the roadster SLK in India on the 10th of August, 2011. The new hard top convertible is expected to be priced around Rs 65 lakh and will be available with a V6 petrol engine only. The updated version unveiled in the US earlier this year in January, the car went on sale in June in the US market.
The new Mercedes SLK is powered by a 3.5L V6 engine producing 310PS of power, and 370Nm of torque which translates to a 0-100kmph sprint in 5.4 seconds. The SLK350 is mated to a 7G-Tronic transmission. Featuring a Multi-spark Ignition system, the SLK boasts of great performance along with exemplary fuel efficiency of a rated 9.7 km to a litre of petrol.
The styling on the new SLK is inspired a lot from the SLS AMG with the design of the grill and sculpted bonnet defining the SLK’s front fascia. The interior of the new SLK roadster is also inspired from the SLS AMG supercar and features few bits that are common with the SLS. Features will include the Magic Sky Control sunroof (a option available on the Vario Roof which turns the roof from transparent to opaque in a click). The roof also blocks UV and infrared light, thus allowing interior components to stay cool.
