Hyundai Grand i10 – FrontView
Hyundai India has finally launched the much anticipated Grand i10 in India couple of days earlier on 03 September, the car will be positioned between the i10 and i20 hatchbacks and will come with both petrol and diesel engines. The petrol variants of the Grand i10 are priced in the range of Rs 4.29 lakh- 5.78 lakh, while the diesel variants are priced at Rs 5.23 lakh- 6.71 lakh. The prices revealed are introductory, and ex-showroom Delhi.
The Grand i10 isn’t an updated or tweaked version of an existing Hyundai i10 in India, instead an all-new car from the ground up where the Indian market is concerned. The Grand i10 looks matured and upmarket, almost to the level of the i20. The Grand i10 will also make its global debut at the upcoming 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show, but India has become the first market to inspect both its unveiling and the launch.
On the exterior, the Hyundai Grand i10 does retain similarities to the smaller i10 mainly with a front grille that shows the Fluidic design language. Although the headlamps, the window line and tail lamps are significantly different. Overall, the Grand i10 does look quite different from the smaller i10, but still manages to come across as a Hyundai car. The Grand is larger than the i10 and it sits on a longer wheelbase as well, thus, expect a roomier cabin with a bigger boot space.
Hyundai Grand i10 – InteriorView
On the inside, Hyundai has worked hard to enhance the looks of Grand i10’s interior with material of superior quality. The major features adorned in the interiors of Grand i10 include push button start/stop, 2DIN Integrated music system with 1GB internal memory, Bluetooth connectivity, steering mounted audio controls, smart key, glove box cooling, electric ORVMs with foldable function, rear parking sensor and first-in-the-segment rear AC vents.
A total of 8 options are on offer, 4 on diesel and 4 on petrol namely, Era, Magna, Sportz and Asta (O). The Grand i10 will be made available in eight different colour options – Golden Orange, Phantom Black, Wine Red, Stardust, Sleek Silver, Silky Beige, Twilight Blue and Pure White. Safety features include ABS, Dual Airbags, a smart-key and push-button start combination, fog lamps, rear seat belts, rear wiper and defogger, remote central locking and rear parking sensors.
Hyundai Grand i10 – RearView
Under the hood, the Grand i10 comes in two engine options, 1.2-litre Kappa petrol mill and an all-new 1.1-litre diesel mill. The 1.2-litre Kappa is the similar engine which does its duty to the i10 and i20, it produces the maximum power output of 82bhp and 114Nm of torque that mated to a 5-speed gearbox returns 18.9 kmpl. The petrol engine also has automatic transmission option that returns 16+ kmpl.
The second engine will be a diesel, which is expected to play a significant role in increasing the craze of customers towards Grand i10. The 3-cylinder U2 turbo diesel engine is a 1.1-litre unit that’s also seen on European versions of the i10 and the i20 hatchbacks. This engine is capable of churning out the maximum power output of 70bhp and 180Nm of torque, yet returning the mileage of 24kmpl. The diesel engine gets the 5-speed manual gearbox as standard.
