General Motors India will launch the much awaited facelift version of Chevrolet Cruze Sedan on June 29, which will have major upgradation under the hood. The updated car will have a 164PS engine (up from 150PS) with 380Nm (up from 323Nm) of torque at disposal. This engine is mated to an all-new 6-speed manual/automatic transmission.
On the exteriors, there are minor revisions like the new fog lamps, the Chevy badge being pushed a tad higher on the bonnet and choice of new design alloy wheels. The interior revisions will include more cubby holes and two-tone upholstery. Rest other features are expected to be the same, only technical changes are expected since the company is planning to bring in the complete makeover by early 2013.
The reason behind this engine tweaking is apparent, the new engine will help the car in producing better fuel economy and effortless acceleration, thus a better drivability. The fuel economy is to go up, where the earlier version was producing the mileage between 9.8kmpl to 15.3kmpl, now it will be around 11kmpl in city and 15-16kmpl on highway. GM is expected to price the new Cruze between Rs 12-16 lakh.
