At the 2012 LA Auto Show, Porsche has unwrapped their all new third gen Cayman (2014) with a price of $54,469 (INR 30.18 lakh) while the Cayman S is priced at $61,495 (INR 32.07 lakh). Porsche has started accepting orders for the Cayman and Cayman S in North America, while deliveries are scheduled to start from April 2013.
The 2014 Porsche Cayman has been “re-engineered from the ground up and it is lower and longer, lighter and faster, more efficient and more powerful than ever,” Porsche said in a statement.
New Porsche Cayman, 30 kgs lighter than outgoing model, is powered by 2.7L flat six, that generates max power of 275 bhp, with a top speed of 266 kmph and a 0-100 kmph acceleration time of 5.4 seconds, delivering a mileage of 7.7l/100 kms (12.98 kmpl), which is 15% more than the previous Cayman.
Porsche Cayman S is powered by a 3.4-litre engine generating 325 hp with a 0-100 kmph acceleration time of 4.7 seconds and a topspeed of 283 kmph, fuel consumption is at 8.0l/100 kms (12.5 kmpl). Transmission for both, Cayman and Cayman S is taken care by “PDK”, Porsche’s dual-clutch robotic manual transmission.
Currently, Porsche’s sports car line-up in India includes the follows;
- Porsche 911 Cabriolet – Rs. 1.06 crore**
- Porsche 911 Coupe – Rs. 93.34 lakh**
- Porsche Boxster – Rs. 54.50 lakh**
- Porsche Cayman – Rs. 58.50 lakh**
