Today we can show you for the first time the exterior design of the upcoming new-gen Maruti Dzire, completely undisguised. The previous spyshots that we’ve seen show the car was heavily camouflaged. Today’s shot is from Maruti’s plant at Manesar.
Production of the new-gen Dzire has commenced at Maruti’s plant in Manesar, launch around May.
The source reports that the production of 2017 Dzire sedan has already commenced, as Maruti has pre-poned the launch of its compact sedan in India around May this-year, instead of second half of 2017. The company is likely to drop the Swift badge from the new-gen Dzire to give it a unique identity within the product lineup.
As you can tell from the somewhat blurry image, the new Dzire borrows styling cues from the new-gen Swift, and Maruti designers this time have managed to proportion the boot very-well compared to the boot unwillingly slapped on the outgoing models. In India compact sedan means a hatch car with a boot and Dzire is no different.
The new-gen Dzire will be Rs 60,000 to Rs 70,000 costlier than the existing model.
To make the upcoming Dzire look different and fresh from the hatchback, Maruti has restyled the face of the new Dzire with chrome grille and smalls change to the front bumper. When you look at the front-fascia you will notice that the air-intake and fog lamps surrounds are round to create some sort of distinguishing feature so it is different from the new-gen Swift.
The interior will gain updates as well and will be borrowed straight-away from the upcoming Swift hatchback with 7-inch Smartplay touchscreen system with Apple Carplay, new multi-info color display similar to Baleno’s unit, automatic climate controls, keyless entry, push button engine start/stop, steering-mounted buttons and rear parking sensors with camera.
Pictured here is a new-gen Swift’s all-black interior, while the upcoming Dzire carries the beige fabric seat upholstery that could be contrasted by a black dashboard similar to the current ones.
The new Dzire is based on the Baleno’s platform, expect it to have lowered kerb weight that could assist in improved handling. The current models range of 1.2-litre K-series (petrol) and 1.3-litre DDiS (diesel) engines are expected to be offered on the upcoming Dzire at launch, but we’ll know more in due time. Thanks to a lighter body, fuel-efficiency will be increased.
