The German luxury car manufacture, Audi as brought in the newly updated A3 Convertible in India at Rs 47.98 (ex-showroom, Delhi). This soft-top car is only available with a petrol 1.4-litre TFSI motor.
Bringing the new A3 Cabriolet on par with the latest design language the German luxury auto giant has adapted.
The cosmetic changes on new A3 Cabriolet resemble the new-gen A4 sedan that was launched in India last-year. The similar design changes will also make it on the upcoming facelifted Audi A3 sedan. The dimensions are same as that of the previous model.
Overall fit-and-finish too remains the same as pre-facelift model, a closer look reveals the updated matrix LED headlight and new tail light cluster. Furthermore, the front grille has got wider while both the bumpers also receive minor tweaks.
The convertible roof is a soft cloth top with a glass rear window that can go up and down in less than 18 seconds using an electro hydraulic mechanism. It works at speeds of up to 50 KMPH. The soft top folds into the rear in three layers and sits on top of a tray – luggage space is about 287 litres.
Sadly, Audi’s Virtual Cockpit digital dial system doesn’t seem to be on the cards for India.
Noteworthy features include dual-zone climate control, leather upholstery, a 7.0-inch MMI infotainment screen, satellite navigation, front and rear parking sensors with a camera and five airbags. Options include a Bang & Olufsen hi-fi sound system and a smartphone integration system.
Only engine option for India – a 1.4-litre TFSI motor that puts out 150PS and 250Nm mated to a 7-speed S-tronic transmission. This powertrain is shared with the new-gen A4 in the identical state of tune. The company claims that this motor delivers 19.20 KMPL. The outgoing-model was powered by a 180PS/250Nm 1.8-litre TFSI petrol engine.
