Already details about the Volkswagen Taigun have already been read by our readers at BharathAutos in our previous posts couple of months ago. In these posts, we have kept our thankful readers updated about the revealing of the VW’s Taigun at the Sao Paulo Motor Show in October last-year and also regarding the car reaching the Indian market not before 2016.
The Volkswagen Taigun is the much anticipated car as the Ford EcoSport which finally made a launch last week. The VW’s Taigun would be released in a view to compete compact SUV’s such as Ford EcoSport, Renault Duster and the upcoming Mahindra’s S101 in the Indian market. Some more detailed pics of Taigun have been obtained by folks at Car Scoops, when the car was being showcased at the Buenos Aires Motor Show in Argentina.
Volkswagen’s R&D chief Mr. Ulrich Hackenberg had reported earlier that Taigun would not be incorporated with a 4-wheel-drive and would just measure 3.86 meters (0.13 meters shorter than the recently launched Ford EcoSport) making it liable to obtain sub-4-meter excise duty benefits.
Coming to the detailed technical specifications, Taigun would feature a 1.0-litre three-cylinder engine which has a maximum power of 110 PS at a torque of 175Nm which would be controlled by a six-speed manual transmission gearbox. Taigun is also expected to provide a fuel efficiency of 21 kmpl. Apart from this Taigun would be 1.86 meters wide and would also have a wheelbase of 2.47 meters in a view of featuring more interior space and rear legroom space which is of great demand in India.
