Audi India earlier this-month launched the performance variant of the A4, the S4 at Rs. 45.31 lakhs. Just 10 days after its launch Mercedes-Benz India without having any second thought launched the new C-Class AMG Performance Edition at Rs. 34.62 lakh. (Both prices mentioned are of ex-showroom, Mumbai)
The C-Class 250CDI Avantgarde is the one which gets the AMG Sports package. However the changes are only cosmetic with the AMG body styling kit comprising of 17-inch AMG 5-twin-spoke light alloy wheels, sports suspension and perforated front discs. Additional exterior features include polished stainless steel tailpipe trim and daytime running lamps with chrome surrounds.
The interiors also gets an AMG touch with aluminium brushed gearshift, floor mats with AMG lettering and AMG sports pedal. The steering wheel is now covered with Nappa leather with red contrasting stitching on the flattened section. Additionally, the steering wheel also has paddle shifters. Unfortunately the car does not sport an AMG engine instead it uses the same engine that powers the C250 standard.
