Mercedes-Benz S- Class Art Edition

The German premium carmaker, Mercedes-Benz has just added another car to its line-up that will highlight the luxuries of a saloon. The latest car is the Art Edition S-Class, a car that has been designed as a collector’s item. The S-Class Art Edition is a joint project between Mercedes-Benz and Saffronart, the art auction house.

Mercedes-Benz India said the Art Edition S-Class is more of a branding exercise for the carmaker. It has only imported just two models of the Art Edition and each of them are priced at Rs.1.14 crores. The carmaker wants to emphasise its cars are a statement of stylish, sporty and luxurious performance.

This year long tie up sees the German luxury carmaker engage in a meaningful branding alliance that highlights the German marquee lifestyle. The luxury saloons have been flown in from Germany. It features a special black paint scheme and alloys, hand-stitched white leather interiors, and a Harman Kardon sound system which make S -Class Art Edition Rs.19 lakhs more expensive than the top end S500 being sold in India. The S500 costs about Rs.95 lakhs.

“We felt that we need to talk more about the brand, so we thought of tying up with this leading auction house. It has something to do with sharpening the brand – we want to show the customer that we are not only about luxury and safety, but also sportiness and lifestyle,” Mr Peter Honegg, Managing Director and CEO, Mercedes-Benz India, said.

The Art Edition S-Class will be displayed at all art auctions conducted by Saffronarts.
