It gets premium upholstery with high-grade Nappa leather and a wood finished dashboard panel with an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment display and a touch pad. The memory function for the driver and passenger seats, air suspension with adaptive dampening, panoramic sunroof, 360 view cameras, parking assist and list goes on…
As far as safety features, these include re-safe system, brake assist, electronic all-wheel drive traction system 4ETS, ESP, adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, active blind spot, crosswind assist, autonomous braking, side bags for driver, front passenger and middle row seats, window bags across all three seat rows and three-point safety belts.
Powertain is carried from the GL-Class with a 3.0-litre V6 bi-turbo diesel engine tuned to put out 255bhp of power and 620Nm of torque. There is also the GLS550 4MATIC which will generate 449bhp of power. The engine is mated to a 9-speed automatic gearbox that powers all four wheels via Mercedes’ 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system.
In India, Mercedes GLS competes with the new Audi Q7 and the Volvo XC90.
