Maruti Suzuki being the leading manufacturer of passenger cars in the Indian market is now ahead to launch 2 new SUVs by 2016. Currently Maruti Suzuki has not obtained decent sales required for its SUVs like the Gypsy and Grand Vitara. In a view of obtaining the required decent sales in this segment as well as to increase percentage of sales annually, Maruti will launch one of its new SUV named SX4 S-Cross in the first half of 2015 followed by XA Alpha concept in 2016 which was showcased earlier at the 2012 Indian Auto Expo.
The SX4 S-Cross has already started testing in the Indian market and also has been on offer in the global markets. The S-Cross will compete Ford EcoSport, Renault Duster, Toyota Etios Cross, upcoming Fiat Aventura and Volkswagen Cross Polo in the Indian market. The SX4 S-Cross is based on the Suzuki S4 platform already available in the global markets such as Europe and USA.
There has been no much news on the XA Alpha concept after it was showcased back in 2012. But we expect this compact SUV to be a sub-4 meter available in both 1.2-litre petrol K-series engine and 1.3-litre Fiat sourced Multijet diesel engine. However from the reports obtained the XA Alpha is still under development. Much more details about these two SUVs are not yet available.
We at BharathAutos will keep you updated as and when information is available on these 2 upcoming SUVs.
