The Team-BHPian named Naren Konamme has spotted black-coloured Maruti Suzuki Baleno at a hotel parking lot in Cochin. It might be noted that the Baleno isn’t on-sale in black colour at present.
Speaking to the team of Maruti engineers, he got some information about the Baleno under test here is powered by a 1.0-litre three-cylinder BoosterJet turbo-petrol engine which is destined for international markets. The forum also suggests that the Baleno Boosterjet will be launched in India around mid or late 2016.
The spy photographer claims that the engine sound was a little more compared to his new 1.2-litre petrol Baleno. Although the Baleno Boosterjet featured a similar interiors and seat fabrics, it had additional safety features such as side airbags, all four disc brakes, tyre pressure monitoring system and radar-based brake support (which was showing as disabled in the MID).
Further conversation with the officials revealed the Baleno Boosterjet will be launched as the “fastest hatchback” in the country, and it weighed 950 kg while the regular Baleno weighs 865 kg. Also it featured different-styled alloy wheels (Euro-spec model), however, he was not allowed to click interior shots of this test-mule.
The Baleno Boosterjet spotted here was paired to 5-speed manual transmission. This 1.0-litre three-cylinder BoosterJet turbo-petrol engine is capable of developing 110 hp of maximum power and 170 Nm of peak torque. While the current 1.2-litre four-cylinder K-Series petrol engine produces 83 bhp and 115 Nm. The Boosterjet engine in European markets is available with a 5-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmissions.
