Maruti Suzuki is running a bad time with labor issues at Manesar Plant, they have decided to look out for an alternative location for their expansion schedule. Earlier Maruti Suzuki were planning on setting up a new unit in the same Manesar, Haryana belt, but thanks to never-ending worker-strikes, India’s largest car manufacturer wants to move out of the state. Gujarat was the obvious choice due to its extensive infrastructure and amicable government policies.
Maruti Suzuki board members announced the news after their board meeting where they declared their Q2 FY12 results. This is a big boost to the state of Gujarat which already houses production units of some of the top auto companies in the country today.
Representatives of Maruti Suzuki have already met the Chief Minister to finalize their plans and would be investing Rs.18,000 crores in the state. Tata Motors was the first to set up base in Gujarat. They were followed by Ford and Peugeot. Now with Maruti Suzuki, the state will become a major auto destination in India.
