Maruti Suzuki has given us a well rounded product in its most recent launch, the Baleno hatchback. Maruti Suzuki didn’t just make a good car, but also priced it very well indeed, and the results of that are seen very well in the sales numbers. It is a well known fact that the Baleno is loaded to the brim with features, but like every other car, even the Baleno has an entry-level model, and this article is all about the base variant of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno Hatchback.
Well, like most other manufacturers, Maruti Suzuki has skimped on a lot of equipment on the base variant of the Baleno. Automatic Headlamps, Auto dimming IRVM, Reverse parking camera and sensors, Rear Wiper and Defogger, Remote Keyless entry and go, Electric ORVM’s, Telescopic steering, Climate control, Follow me home/lead me to vehicle lights, Front Centre Armrest with storage are all gone.
Some other features like the SmartPlay Infotainment system with steering mounted audio controls and Smartphone Connect/Apple Carplay, Navigation system, Voice Command system are also not available on the base variant. The metal finish door handles on the inside and also the metal finish Parking Brake tip are missing, along with the illumination lamps in the Glove Box, Luggage Room and Front Footwell. The TFT Multi-information display between the gauges in the instrument cluster and the leather wrapped steering wheel are gone too.
Coming to the exteriors, the features that have been skimped on are, Alloy wheels, Projector Headlamps, LED Daytime Running lights, and even most of the chrome found on the top of the line variants are missing, including the Door handles and the front grille.
The beautiful looking front grille with the 6-row design and the chrome accent has been replaced by a more basic and utilitarian Twin-Slat Grille on the base variant. The large Suzuki logo at the centre of the Grille has been retained though.
Thankfully though, Maruti Suzuki has not skimped on a few essential safety and convenience features even on the base variant of the Baleno. Anti-Theft Security System, ABS with EBD, Dual Airbags, Front Seatbelt Pre-Tensioners and Force Limiters and Drivers side seatbelt reminder alarm are the safety features present on the Baleno, even on the base variant. Central Locking, Front power windows, Tilt Steering and Accessories charging sockets are some of the other convenience features.
Maruti Suzuki has given the Base variant of the Baleno a few other aesthetic features like Black A, B and C-pillars, Body Colored ORVM’s, Bumpers and Door Handles.
This just makes the Baleno even more value for Money to our sight.
