Mahindra & Mahindra will enter into an all-new segment, and it will be the first hatchback from the manufacturer christened, Verito Vibe. The company will unveil Verito Vibe that is basically a Verito with its boot chopped-off on 5th June. We will bring you full details on the launch day, but meanwhile let us give you a preview of the Verio Vibe spotted online recently.
The above seen spy picture was snapped by Mr. Surendar, a forum member of Theautomotiveindia.com at unknown location. The vehicle was kept at dealership with the hidden ‘Vibe’ badge either for display or for a dealer level training purpose. Even now we are in a grave confusion whether Mahindra will promote it as a hatch or a compact sedan though!
The bookings for both the petrol and diesel variants of Mahindra Verito Vibe are expected to be commenced from 1st June 2013. And it is believed atleast 8 variants to be offered in the new Mahindra hatchback from features wise. It will come equipped with many of new features and specs which promise to provide better comfort and safety to driver and passengers.
What will Mahindra gain chopping-off Verito’s boot? By doing so, the Verito Vibe becomes a ‘small car’ measuring sub-4-metre. As a result, it attracts lower taxes (about 12% as against the 30% for cars over 4-metre long) and Mahindra would be passing over a chunk of the tax savings to the buyer. As reports available, it will compete with the likes of Maruti Swift, Hyundai i20 and Volkswagen Polo.
On the bases of power, performance and fuel economy, it is reported very well in the category. The Verito Vibe will continue with its 1.5-litre K9K diesel engine offering 65 bhp power as is seen in its sedan counterpart while the company does not have any plans in the offing to introduce a petrol variant. We speculate the Verito Vibe hatchback to be priced around Rs. 5.5-6 lakh.
