Ssangyong Motor, a part of the Mahindra Group, has recently introduced a new ‘RX6’ variant of SsangYong Rexton with additional features. The new ‘RX6’ variant will be positioned between the ‘RX5’ & ‘RX7’ variants and will be available with manual transmission. While the RX5 is the entry level variant with manual transmission, the RX7 is the top end variant with E-tronic automatic transmission with Mercedes Benz technology.
The RX6 is equipped with most of the features from the range-topping RX7 variant like dual-tone interiors, leather upholstery, 8-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat, memory function with 3 presets for the driver’s seat and ORVMs, infotainment system with navigation, electric sunroof, automatic headlamps and rain-sensing wipers. Safety and driver assist features include front and side airbags, ESP, hill descent control, anti-slip regulation and active rollover protection.
The RX6 is powered by a 2.7-litre, 5-cylinder, diesel engine which produces 162 bhp @ 4000 rpm and 340 Nm of torque and is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The RX6 uses a 4×4 Torque on Demand (TOD) system with a low ratio switch (the RX7 comes with a 5-speed automatic transmission and permanent all wheel drive, with higher engine outputs).
SsangYong Rexton RX6 variant is priced at Rs. 19.96 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). It is available in a total of 4 shades – Satin White, Volcano Black, Moondust Silver and Opulent Purple.
