Mahindra Y400 (XUV700) premium SUV to be launched on November 19

Mahindra and Mahindra have revealed the launch date of their much-awaited premium SUV, the XUV700 aka Rexton. Codenamed the Y400, it will be scheduled for launch on November 19. Mahindra, though have not confirmed whether the premium SUV will carry the XUV700 nameplate or not.

The Mahindra Y400 will compete with the Ford Endeavour, Toyota Fortuner, Isuzu MU-X and the Honda CR-V.

What they have confirmed is that the Y400 will be offered through a premium dealership experience, which at present is being developed. Coming to the Y400, it will be based on the SsangYong Rexton sold in various markets abroad. The vehicle will get a few suspension alterations in order to keep it in touch with the Indian conditions.

Mahindra will market the Y400 as a feature-packed and capable premium SUV. The Y400 will carry features like an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, climate control, leather seats, cruise control, ambient mood lighting and so on. When it comes to safety, the Y400 is equipped with 9 airbags, ABS with EBD, traction control, ESP and hill assist control to name a few.

Engine-wise, the Y400 will employ a 2.2-litre diesel engine. This motor is capable of producing 181 BHP of power and 420 Nm of torque. It will come mated to a 7-speed E-Tronic automated transmission sourced from Mercedes-Benz.

When launched, this vehicle will be Mahindra’s flagship model in its line-up. It will rival the likes of the Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour, Isuzu MU-X and the Honda CR-V. Mahindra will be localising the Y400, hence giving way to an affordable price tag likely to start from Rs. 24 lakh.
