First sightings of the Mahindra Mojo was at the 2010 Indian Auto Expo, since than the company kept on postponing and delaying its launch endlessly, UNTIL NOW! The final production version was revealed at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo, and now 1.8-years after the production-spec unveiling Mahindra has finally launched the much-awaited Mojo in the Indian market, although Mahindra’s commitment towards the Mojo is reflected.

The Mojo is based on Malaguti MR250, an Italian motorcycle with Mahindra badging. This is a sheer sports tourer riding on Pirelli Diablo Rosso II tyres and gets a 21-litre fuel tank. Other features include dual exhaust pipes and a double barrel headlamp with DRLs. A total of 3 colours are on offer – Glacier White, Charcoal Black, and Volcano Red.

Powered by a liquid cooled, 300cc, EFI single-cylinder engine with a 4-valve DOHC and mated to a 6-speed gearbox. This unit churns-out a peak power of 27 bhp at 8,000 rpm and 30 Nm of peak torque at 5,500 rpm. The absence of the ABS even as an option comes as a surprise, but the ABS version is currently under testing and will be on-sale by sometime next-year.

The introductory price is valid for all bookings placed till this Diwali. Initially, the Mojo will be available across 10 select dealerships in Phase 1 in New Delhi, Bengaluru, Mumbai and Pune. Those who have already booked the Mahindra Mojo, will start getting deliveries from today. For those who wish to buy new Mojo, and are not from the four aforementioned cities, you can book one online from tomorrow 16th October at mahindramojo.com

Surprisingly, Mahindra has created a club for Mojo owners across India, called Mojo Tribe. The club will regularly hold rides (called ‘Trails of MOJO TRIBE’) for owners of Mojo and organize activities that will enhance the biking experience, claims the company. The first of such consumer trails will be flagged-off at Bengaluru on 17th October.
