India’s best-selling MUV just got better – Mahindra and Mahindra has launched an updated version of the Bolero. The new Bolero is priced at Rs 6.19 lakh (Ex-showroom Delhi) and is now available for booking across all Mahindra outlets in India. Apart from featuring a new engine which is powerful and economical than the outgoing Bolero, Mahindra has also added a new variant to the Bolero range, Bolero ZLX.
This is the Bolero’s second facelift after it was re-launched in 2000. The 2011 facelift has a new front with redesigned headlamps, grille, bumper and more. The interior gets a reworked dashboard with panels on the centre console getting a classy wood finish. It also gets a completely digital instrument cluster which includes driver information screen and a voice warning system.
Under the hood is Mahindra’s 75bhp Low-Cost-Common-Rail (LCCR) engine from the recently introduced Scorpio EX. This engine delivers an ARAI-certified fuel economy figure of 15.96kpl, claims Mahindra. None of the variants of new Bolero will be featuring 4×4 as of now. Mahindra is currently working on the Bolero 4×4 and will be launched later in the Indian car market.
The car has never seen any competition in its segment as there is no other entry level SUVs. The popularity of the vehicle has grown immensely during its 10 years of existence in the market and on date 4,00,000 Boleros rule the Indian roads today. Thanks to its dependability, Mahindra calls Bolero, Mr Dependable. Of all the Mahindra cars being sold today, 50% of them are Bolero while 35% of the entire SUV market in India is captured by Bolero.
