KTM just disclosed their future plans for India and the fireworks will begin with the launch of the KTM Duke 390. The KTM Duke 390 is expected to reach the Indian showrooms by mid-march in the naked guise. The bike has already been teased by KTM on its India website and latest reports which have emerged suggest that the dealers have started accepting ‘unofficial bookings’.

The dealers have told the prospective customers that they can lay their hands on this Duke first thing when the bike gets launched if the bookings are made now. The KTM Duke 390 is expected to come with a pricetag of around Rs.2.25 lakhs but we think that the bike will hit the Indian roads at a price tag of around Rs.1.99 lakhs because of the high levels of localisation.

The KTM Duke 390 will have 45 horses at its heart which will be pretty much race-ready all the time. The bike is expected to take the Indian motorbiking to an all together different level as it would offer a lot of power at its price point. A card which KTM does not seemed to have played too well is the similarity of the bike in looks with the KTM Duke 200.

The Katoom will come with ABS as standard fitment for the Indian market but KTM might decide on making it an optional accessory, seeing that fitting of ABS increases the costs by around Rs.25,000-30,000. The KTM Duke 390 is all-set for an Indian launch and seems ready to have other bikes in its rear view mirrors. 45 horses at Rs.2 lakh seems to be the best buy currently and it will offer you more than just bang for your bucks.
