Jaguar confirms the launch of BMW 3-Series rival

2008 Jaguar X-TYPE

At the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show, the Jaguar unveiled their latest models like the new Jaguar F-TYPE and the new XFR-S. However, there is something else taking priority at Jaguar these days.

According to Jaguar’s global brand director Adrian Hallmark, Jaguar’s BMW 3-Series rival is a bigger priority at the company more than any other model segment including crossovers.

“Even though the SUV market is growing, the saloon market is still twice the size, especially in the US,” said Hallmark in an interview with AutoCar. “A crossover would make more noise for us than a saloon, but we already have SUVs in the company and we’re not in a rush to add to that. You might not make as much profit on a saloon than an SUV, but you don’t expect the likes of Audi stop making the A4.”
