After the launch of Polo GT TDI on 13th September last year, Volkswagen has now officially revealed facelifted Polo which would feature powerful and more efficient engines than the existing one. In addition to this, the upcoming facelifted Polo would also feature changes to the exterior and interior of the vehicle.
Coming to the exterior, the facelifted Polo features new chrome line seperating the fog lamps, optional LED headlights, redesigned bumpers, new stylish alloy wheels, new tail lamps and more space added to the rear number plate area. Along with this, the interiors would feature redesigned instrument cluster, new steering wheel, new dashboard with color screen display and controls to the infotainment and air-conditioning.
The major change in the facelifted Volkswagen Polo would be underhood. It would now be powered with VW’s downsized 1.5-litre TDI engine which is in fact smaller-capacity version of the EA189 1.6 TDI motor replacing the current 1.2-litre TDI and the 1.6-litre TDI engines. The 1.5-litre TDI engine will in turn be provided with two power outputs i,e 89bhp and 104bhp respectively. The standard Polo will get the 89bhp engine, while the more powerful 104bhp variant is expected with a variable-geometry-turbo (VGT) and will also power the Vento saloon and the 2014 Polo GT TDI. The facelifted Polo is expected to go on sale in mid 2014.
