The Car and Bike reports that Hyundai India will be introducing an all-new sub-4-meter compact SUV at the Auto Expo 2016, or at an event just prior to it.
It is unclear at the moment, if the compact SUV will be make debut in production or concept avatar in February-2016. It is expected to be slot between the i20 Active and Creta in the price range of Rs. 7.5 lakh and Rs. 10 lakh, competing with the likes of the Ford EcoSport, the forthcoming Maruti Vitara Brezza and the Mahindra TUV300.
The new mini SUV will be based on the underpinnings of the Elite i20 and i20 Active. The mechanical bits will be taken straight from the i20 siblings including a 1.2-litre 4-cyl Kappa petrol engine paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox and a 1.4-litre 4-cyl CRDi diesel engine mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. The compact SUV is likely to be available in a front-wheel drive configuration only.
