Pune based Garware Motors that is selling S&T Motors Hyosung motorcycles in India has seen a very good response to its recently launched superbikes the Hyosung GT650R and ST7. Now the company says though it does not plan to launch a 400 cc motorcycle in India, but the company will launch two new vehicles the naked version of the GT650R and a GT250R. Garware Motors is also looking at increasing production at its assembly plant in Wai, near Pune.
The company says after the launch of Kawasaki Ninja 650R, they have seen a positive response for their bikes. Many buyers who had booked the Hyosung GT650R were waiting for the Ninja and post the launch of the 650R, converted their bookings for the GT650R. Now the upcoming GT650R will lose the full fairing (call it a ‘street fighter or naked version’) of the GT650R and will be cheaper too.
After the 150cc segment, the 250cc bike segment is heating up in India. Once again Bajaj was the one to start with Ninja, then we have the Honda CBR250R now and KTM also will soon join the segment. So, can Hyosung win the race?
Hyosung GT250R will also directly compete against the Ninja 250R and will be launched in 2012. Hyosung GT250R will feature a twin-cylinder engine, 249cc engine that generates 28.8-bhp of power and 22Nm of torque equipped with a 5-speed gearbox.
Diya Garware, MD of Garware Motors has said “S&T is keen to enter India. We plan a manufacturing JV by mid-2012. If and when the JV is formed we will enter the 250-cc segment.”
Let’s hope this bike get in here by next year or as soon as possible.
