It’s a trend these days for global car manufacturers to create high-riding B-segment cars from their B-segment hatchback platforms. It’s not so much that people actually take these things off-road, but it’s more for people who like the rugged looks and prefer a higher seat position.
Hyundai has the i20 Active based on the i20 Elite, Toyota has the Etios Cross built from the Etios Liva, and Fiat Avventura’s is built on the Punto platform. Now Honda Brazil is prepping a crossover variant based on the Jazz, expected it to be called ‘Honda WR-V’.
Quatro Rodas Brazilian automobile-magazine came up with this renderings based on the spy shots of Jazz Cross which have been snapped over the last few months while it was testing on the streets of Brazil. For us, the render’s design closely resembles to that of recently launched BR-V crossover in India.
The WR-V (Jazz Cross) will be positioned between the Honda Jazz and the Honda BR-V. It is scheduled to be unveiled at the 2016 Sao Paulo Auto Show in November, and is rumored to be in the queue for the Indian market in 2017. Interior and dimensions will be largely the same as that of existing Jazz, however, the ground clearance will be raised for SUV-stance.
Currently we’ve got the likes of the Hyundai i20 Active, the Fiat Avventura, the Toyota Etios Cross and the Volkswagen Cross Polo to choose from in the Indian market. What do you think? Would you be interested in a B-segment SUV based on the Jazz?
