Honda Cars India LTD. announced that its premium sedan, the City has crossed the 7 lakh barrier of total sales in India. The City, which currently is the best-selling model for Honda in India, is now in its fourth-generation here. It has seen numerous facelift’s and cosmetic updates since it was launched here in 1998.
The City facelift, launched earlier this-year, is accounting for good sales in India. Its average sales for the last few months is more than 5,000 units. Honda currently offers manual and CVT transmission for the City, and sells it in both petrol and diesel engines.
Features include an electric sunroof, a 17.7-inch touchscreen, keyless entry, reverse camera, parking sensors and so on. Worldwide, Honda has sold more than 3.6 million units of the City, and is currently present in more than 60 countries. India sales of the City account for about 25% of the car’s total sales worldwide.
The City was one of the first premium sedans to enter India in the late 90’s, entering our market in 1998. Now, almost two decades later, the brand has a strong reach in India and got better with every generation. It would be great to see the City sell in more numbers in the coming years.
