After the recent launches of the updated Xtreme, Karizma-R and Karizma ZMR, Hero has yet again unveiled that it will be launching 3 new Scooters and a variant ranging between 110cc to 150cc by March 2016. Being the second largest scooter manufacturer in the Indian market, Hero has now plans to compete the likes of other scooter manufacturers such as Honda Activa and TVS Jupiter.
Mr.Pawan Munjal, MD and CEO, Hero MotoCorp said that “Having seen a much faster pace than the industry in the scooter market, we are rapidly expanding our scooter portfolio with the clear objective of attaining leadership in this segment as well. Our new range of models is a reflection of our strong technology prowess and determination to keep innovating in order to expand our global foot print”
Mr. Pawan Munjal also continued stating that the “Scooter segment share in the overall scooter industry stands at 45 per cent as against 10 per cent at the time of Hero MotoCorp forayed into the scooter space. Clearly the company has played a significant part in this growth. Indian market is soon going to grow at 30 per cent and Hero MotoCorp will take full advantage of this growth.”
Below is the list of the 3 upcoming scooters:
1. Dare:
Hero unveiled the 125cc Dare at the 2014 Auto Expo. It has been significantly designed targeting male buyers in the Indian market. It features LED daytime running lights, body-color painted brake calipers on the front disc, dual tone alloy wheels, 200 mm diameter hydraulic disc brake at the front, 130 mm drum brakes at the rear, LED lights and tail lamps, digital console, boot light, pass switch, side stand indicator and a handy 12v charging socket. It is expected to be launched by the end of this year in the Indian market at a price tag ranging between INR 56000 and INR 61000.
Coming to the technical specifications, it is powered by a single cylinder 124.66 engine producing a maximum power of 9.38bhp at 7,500rpm and maximum torque of 9.8Nm at 6,500rpm.
2. ZIR:
Hero also showcased the ZIR scooter range at the 2014 Auto Expo available in two styling packages. One of which was the European look and the other with a flat footboard. The European look features a smart looking swept back screen whereas the other ZIR had a more upright screen mounted on the handlebar for a more conventional look but looked less sporty.
It features a 9-litre fuel tank, LED daytime running lights, LED lights, digital console, alloy wheels, hydraulic discs at the front and rear, projector headlamps, body-color painted brake calipers and fuel injection system of the ZIR can also interact with our smart phones to send telemetry directly via an application. It is expected to be launched in the first half of 2015 in the Indian market at a price tag ranging between INR 80000 and INR 85000.
Coming to the technical specifications, it is powered by a 150cc liquid cooled 4 valve engine producing a maximum power of 13.9bhp at 8500rpm and maximum torque of 12.7Nm at 7000rpm.
3. Dash:
Hero unveiled the Dash scooter just few days prior to the 2014 Auto Expo. It is significantly designed for unisex consumers and is similar to Maestro in terms of design. It features a 6-litre fuel tank, drum breaks for front and back, side stand indicator, service due indicator, LED tail lamp, key operated external fuel lid and USB mobile charger. It is expected to be launched in the first half of 2015 in the Indian market at a price tag ranging between INR 51000 and INR 56000.
Coming to the technical specifications, it is powered by an air-cooled 110cc four stroke engine producing a maximum power of 8.4bhp at 7500rpm and maximum torque of 9.4Nm at 5750rpm.
