The world’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer, Hero MotoCorp has launched the new Splendor iSmart 110 – Hero’s first motorcycle to be completely designed and developed in-house which carries an indigenous engine.
Priced at Rs 53,300 (ex-showroom, New Delhi), the high-tech and modern Splendor iSmart 110 is a category-defining motorcycle, offering best-in-class performance and fuel efficiency. First displayed at the 2016 Auto Expo, the new 110 model carries forward the same i3s technology seen on the older 100cc iSmart.
The i3S technology is essentially an idling start/stop system that shuts off the engine automatically after few seconds, if the vehicle is stationery in neutral gear at traffic signal or jam. To restart, the rider must press the clutch, the engine starts immediately for continuing the journey. The i3S system, apart from increasing fuel efficiency, is an important convenience feature in the urban stop-go traffic.
Built on a completely new chassis and frame, the bike is powered by the new 110 cc TOD (torque-on-demand) air-cooled, single-cylinder engine. This unit is BS-IV compliant (first-in-segment) develops 9 BHP at 7500rpm and peak torque of 9 Nm at 5500rpm, paired to a 4-speed gearbox. It is capable to sprint from 0 to 60 KMPH in 7.45 seconds and can touch a top-speed of 87 KMPH.
A total of 4 shades are on offer – Silver & Black, Red & Black, Blue & Black and Sports Red. The noteworthy features include first-in-class Automatic Headlamp On (AHO), longest seat in the class, digital-analog instrument console, service due indicator, 18-inch black alloy wheels with tubeless tyres, stylish body colour and dual tone rear view mirrors.
