Finally we got our hands a firstever exclusive spy picture of Bajaj Pulsar 200 fully-faired version rumoured to be called ‘Pulsar 200SS’. Earlier this year, Bajaj Auto confirmed the launch of two new Pulsars this year, one will be the KTM Duke 390 based Pulsar 375, while the other will be positioned below the Pulsar 200NS which is the Pulsar 180 NS. But the Pulsar 200SS is a complete surprise as the company has never given a hint about this upcoming model anytime soon!
This Bajaj Pulsar 200SS was snapped while at testing on National Highway 4, outside Kolhapur. The bike looks production ready and the folks at AutoCarIndia further reveal that the launch of this macho 200 is expected to happen within a few weeks, not even months. Thus kindly expect the Bajaj Pulsar 200SS to be launched sometime in November-2013.
Fully-faired Bajaj Pulsar 200SS
Based on the naked sibling 200NS, the latest Pulsar is about to dress-up in latest faired avatar, to roll in with a racy new look. The fully faired Pulsar 200SS gets clip on handlebar and split seats. The tank looks much bigger than the 200NS. The instrument cluster will be new but takes design inspiration from the 200NS. Also Bajaj’s crisp working and good quality switchgear can be taken for granted. The faired Pulsar 200SS will also get a short sporty compact exhaust system.
Although the upcoming fully faired Pulsar 200SS will borrow the engine from the Pulsar 200NS, expect the motor to have a slightly higher max power of 24PS compared to the 23PS of the 200NS. The single cylinder 4 stroke 200cc engine will be mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The engine characteristics of the retuned engine will be very similar to the Pulsar 200NS engine. So we can expect good performance and decent efficiency from it. The bike would also feature the same rear monoshock suspension and 17” inch alloy wheels.
Once launched, the fully faired Pulsar 200SS will directly compete with the likes of the Yamaha R15, Honda CBR150R, KTM Duke 200, upcoming Karizma ZMR and Karizma R which will also be launched next-month. Also there are rumors of Bajaj Auto working on fuel-injection version of 200NS.
