Country’s leading engine producer, Fiat India have started doing the groundwork for the launch of new cars as well as its brands such as the Jeep and Abarth in India. After deciding to go on with a solo journey, the Italian car brand broke its ties with Tata Motors India and since then it is heading for creating an identity of its own. In this attempt, it has planned new cars, new independent showrooms and its separate sales and service channel in the country.
The company has recently inaugurated its fifth exclusive sales outlet in Noida. The newest dealership, Kashyap Fiat, is spread across an area of 4,000 sq ft and also has a service outlet on the same premises. Fiat India is in the process of setting-up 70 dealerships by the end of March and a total of 100 by the end of the year.
While in the first phase, the company will target metros and tier-1 cities, then in the second phase, there will be several tier-II and tier-III cities. However, the joint service networks, will continue till the end of the year, till Fiat is able to set up the service outlets.
Currently, the company sells only two cars at the outlet – Fiat Punto and Linea, will bring in the Punto Abarth in the third quarter of 2013, and then there will be Fiat-Chrysler’s Jeep Wrangler and the Grand Cherokee in the fourth quarter. Therefore, it’s early to comment on how things would work for Fiat this time, their aggressive strategy and confidence bring positive ideas.
