Ducati has unveiled Multistrada 1200 S Pikes Peak Special Edition, the name comes from the famous off-road race of The Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, or “Race to the Clouds”.. The bike was unveiled in order to celebrate To celebrate Greg Tracey’s last year’s win at Pikes Peak with the Multistrada 1200 S. The Pikes Peak Special Edition model is painted in Ducati’s red and white racing-team livery and has special pin-striping, red seat stitching and carbon-fiber parts to set it apart from the garden-variety Multistrada. It is a stunning replica of the Ducati Corse-style paint scheme with passenger foot-peg hangers and engine guard anodized in black finish and sports red pin-striping on the wheels.
The special edition bike looks good and tough enough to compete in any racing event. In addition to the original equipment silencer and screen the Pikes Peak Special Edition Model arrives with an EU approved Ducati Performance carbon fiber silencer by Termignoni and a race-derived low screen in carbon fiber. A Ducati Performance carbon fiber front mudguard, and custom made seat detailed with red stitching complete an enhanced specification well worthy of a race-winning replica.
The Special Edition emphasizes on the race-bred spirit that is deeply rooted inside every Ducati and follows a massive first year accomplishment for the award-winning Multistrada 1200, which set a new industry benchmark in motorcycle technology with the unique four-bikes-in-one concept.
The Multistrada is designed to perform exceptionally well a variety of terrains, ranging from the race tracks to rugged off-road jaunts which can be a nightmare for any biker. It has four riding modes; Sport, Touring, Urban and Enduro, which the rider selects manually to tailor the bike’s power and handling characteristics to the terrain.
There is a numbered batch on its engine’s crankcase cover that represents the individuality of the bike. This special edition on Multistrada is being promoted by Ducati because the Multistrada version has been a huge success and won many events including Pikes Peak Race which involves climbing a mountain track through 4,300 feet of altitude change. Thus Ducati feels that Multistrada is an iconic bike and therefore this Special edition is launched.
With the launch of this special edition, Ducati has also announced its entry in 2011 Pikes Peak International Hill Club, featuring last year’s winning team of Greg Tracy and Alexander Smith. This new special edition bike will be available for grabs from June 2011 at a price of $21,995. Ducati seems to be very happy after rolling out this special edition and they wish to bring more technology advanced bikes in future.
