A group of 23 master students from put this car together in 4 months, creating the world’s fist and probably last Dacia Duster stretched limo. Accredited to the faculties of Craiova, Bucharest, Pitesti and Iasi have developed, during their preparation of master diploma as interns at Renault Technologie Roumanie , what they called the Dacia Duster Birou Mobil (Mobile Bureau) limousine.
The aim of the project was to develop students’ creativity and ability to use and integrate various new technologies into a real functional prototype vehicle. The prototype was based on a Dacia Duster platform that supported several modifications during the project both at the chassis level and for the car interior design.
The chassis of the Duster was cut in half at the B-pillars and 1.5 meters (59 inches) of sheetmetal were added to extend the wheelbase to 5.83 metres long. The extra space was crammed full of equipment that would allow the passengers to work from the comfort of the car. And the cool matte black paint job on the outside with a strange brushed aluminum plate just makes the side profile interesting.
On the inside, the interior features a new black-white scheme which now looks more premium. It has four captain seats with a television and an android tablet. A mini-conference can be organized: WiFi and Bluetooth communication, 3G router, computer tablets, video camera, a supplementary climate control system and even a small refrigerator for keeping the drinks cold.
The engine used by this heavy limo is the 1.6-liter petrol, which seems a bit underpowered for the job. Consequently, the machine did not require changes to the suspension, compared to an Duster 4×2, being only 336 kg. But considering this is a project car for students, it’s still something very amazing and worth showing you.
