Chevrolet Camaro Bumblebee arrives in Mangalore

Chevrolet’s flagship model, the Camaro was recently spotted plying on Mangalore roads with Dubai nameplates. This is believed to be the only Bumblebee in India for now. However, this yellow Chevrolet sportsmachine is a common sight in Dubai and even the Police owns this beast. This American muscle car was first seen at Kasargod, Kerala couple of weeks ago now here in Mangalore. According to the trusted source, this Camaro is believed to have costed about Rs. 35 lakh plus other charges of Rs. 18 lakh (including freight+carnet charges).

The carnet charges is valid only for 6 months, after which this yellow Camaro should return to its hometown Sharjah, Dubai. Earlier too, we have seen Silver Camaro in Mumbai and White Camaro in Kannur with Dubai nameplates, which is now returned back. Although the company is yet to confirm if they will launch Camaro in India but as speculated, the car may arrive India sometime next-year with an expected price of Rs. 40 lakh for the base model. If it arrives in India with a reasonable price tag then we think it will be a complete value for money supercar.

Previously, when fifth-generation Chevy Camaro was showcased at 2012 Indian Auto Expo, it grabbed a lot of attention and was a show stopper at GM India stall. The Camaro is featured in the Transformers movie series as a character named ‘Bumblebee’ and also seen in the Indian spy film Agent Vinod. The Camaro seen here is believed to be the 2010 version with ‘Transformers’ like high-gloss black center rally stripe on the hood.

Refresher – Power for the Chevrolet Camaro comes from two different petrol engines. The base Camaro is powered by a 3.6-litre direct-injection V6 engine that produces 323-bhp and 278-Nm of torque. This engine is served with a manual six-speed gearbox. The second 6.2-litre V8 petrol engine in Camaro comes with two different transmission option. The Camaro mated to six-speed manual gearbox generates a maximum power and torque output of 426-bhp and 420-Nm respectively. While the Camaro mated to a six-speed automatic transmission pumps out a maximum power of 400-bhp with utmost torque output of 410-Nm. All engines of Camaro supplies power to its rear wheels only.
