At present, the Yaris CNG is undergoing its development phase. As per reports, it is expected to be ready by the end of 2020. Toyota will look to waste no time in bringing the Yaris CNG here.

Information regarding the Yaris CNG could come up soon. Toyota feel that it will be ideal to bring the CNG variant of the Yaris to the market. This may be due to the demand for diesel vehicles slowing down in recent times.

When launched, it will be the first mid-size sedan to be available in a factory-fitted CNG variant. At present, the Yaris comes powered by a 1.5 litre, four-cylinder, VVT-i petrol motor. This motor manages to produce 107 BHP of power along with 140 Nm of torque.

On the transmission front, the Yaris is offered in options of a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed CVT gearbox. We expect the petrol motor to be converted into a CNG variant. This will likely see a drop in performance figures of the engine, but will reduce its emissions compared to the stock variant.

Coming to its price, the CNG variant may cost marginally more than the petrol one. Toyota will look to gain a headstart with the CNG, at a time when rival automakers are upgrading their vehicles to the upcoming emission standards. The automaker will look into introducing the CNG variant in most of its models here.
