Get ready BMW fans – BMW will host a press conference in Germany on Monday, Feb. 21, 2011 to unveil a new sub-brand. The new brand will carry the ‘i’ badge and will be found on all the upcoming BMW electric-cars including the upcoming BMW Megacity, which will arrive in 2013.
BMW calls the ‘i’ vehicles the ‘next premium’ automobiles. The new BMW Megacity family of vehicles will drive BMW into a new market where the plan on become the world leader in premium electric-vehicles.
“The sub-brand offers a chance to innovate as well as feature BMW’s customary design quality and detailing,” said BMW’s Chief Designer Adrian Van Hooydonk.
Recent reports suggest that the BMW Megacity will first be offered in a two-door, four seat configuration. Following that in 2015, the Megacity family will be expanded with a two-door, two seat model. In 2017, the UCV (Urban Commuter Vehicle) will expand the Megacity line-up with a MPV that has four does and seats five passengers.
