German carmaker, BMW has added two new premium cars to its 7-Series range – ActiveHybrid and Signature in India. Both the ActiveHybrid and Signature bears a strong resemblance to the 7-Series which is already on-sale in India. To differentiate, the hybrid 7er comes with ActiveHybrid 7 badges and the other with Signature badges.

BMW ActiveHybrid 7The ActiveHybrid 7 is, in essence, a 7-Series sedan with an electric motor working in tandem with its petrol engine. The car has a 3.0-litre 6-cylinder in line engine offering 320 bhp peak power and 450 Nm peak torque. An electric engine generating 55 bhp and 210 Nm torque will also work in conjuncture via ZF 8-speed automatic transmission. These two engines in tandem give ActiveHybrid 7 a combined output of 359 PS and 500 Nm torque while acceleration from 0 to 100 kmph is accomplished in 5.7 seconds. Top speed stands at 250 kmph while the vehicle returns 15 kmpl.
A notable feature on board the BMW ActiveHybrid 7 is that a 120 volt lithium ion battery pack also powers its air conditioning system so that it can run when car is turned off, thus allowing for better fuel economy.

BMW 7-Series Signature (BMW 730Ld) with interiors of Fine wood trim Burr Walnut with inlays and Nappa leather upholstery in Ivory White and Black combination will be offered in two exterior colors of Imperial Blue Brilliant Effect and Mineral White.
Unique in character and individual in design and statement, the new BMW 7-Series Signature will be distinctive to each buyer. State of the art interiors will be an exclusive with well appointed equipment, luxurious material and will be seen with Bang & Olufsen surround sound system, active steering facilities and individual reading lights. Sound system comes with new Dirac Dimensions signal processing backed by 16 loudspeakers generating 1200 watts. Users will be able to select two settings which include Studio for extra clarity and studio quality sound and Expanded for wider soundscape. The Signature also gets individual reading lights that are adjustable and a 13-litre individual cool box that can hold two 700 ml bottles and 2 cans.
The 730Ld Signature is powered by a 2993 cc, 6-cylinder turbocharged diesel that produces 255 bhp @ 4000 rpm and peak torque of 560 Nm @ 1500 rpm. Power is sent to the rear wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission, enabling the car to accelerate from 0-100 kmph in 6.2 seconds and achieve a top-speed limited to 250 kmph.
