In 2015, BMW India discontinued the sales of 3-Series petrol variants. But things didn’t work as the company calculated, as the Indian car market turned towards the petrol cars.
Now the company has re-introduced BMW 320i petrol sedan in India. It will be sold as a CBU (Completely Built-up Unit). Available in two variants – Prestige and Luxury line priced at Rs. 36.90 lakh and Rs. 42.70 lakh (ex-showroom, all-India) respectively. However, its diesel sibling 320d is a lakh cheaper than 320i petrol priced at Rs 35.90 lakh for the Prestige variant (ex-Delhi), as its being assembled at the Chennai plant.
The BMW 320i is powered by a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder, TwinPower turbo petrol engine capable of producing 181 BHP and 270 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. BMW claims that the 320i will go from 0-100kmph in 7.3 seconds, with a top speed of 235kmph and a 50:50 weight distribution. Further it gets Eco Pro mode, auto start-stop system and a brake energy regeneration system for improved efficiency.
A total of 3 colours are on offer – Alpine White (non-metallic), Black Sapphire and Imperial Blue Brilliant Effect (metallic) colours. Jatoba metallic paintwork is exclusively available for the Luxury Line.
