Ashok Leyland Stile MFV

Ashok Leyland and Nissan vehicles, the 50:50 JV between ALL and Nissan Motors, had launched its first product, Dost in March-2011. Now Ashok Leyland is all-set to introduce its second product the Stile MPV, which is a cross badged version of the Nissan Evalia, just like what Renault Pulse and Renault Scala are to Nissan Micra and Nissan Sunny respectively.

According to folks at BS Motoring, Ashok Leyland will market the Stile as Multi-Functional Vehicle (MFV) and will usher in a new class of vehicles for the Indian customer. Unlike Evalia, the Stile although comes powered by a 1.5-litre K9K turbo diesel engine, but with a lower state of tune of 74 Bhp-185 Nm output  and is expected to clock a slightly better mileage figure of 19.5 kpl (against the Evalia’s 19.3k kpl) as it awaits ARAI certification on that.

Apart from this, the Stile omits features like central locking, keyless entry (with the push button start), real time fuel consumption display, fog lamps, Stereo unit and passenger side power window switch. Compared to Evalia, it gets covered glove box, sliding windows and an AC blower for the second row, making the car more accessible for buyers.

Once launched, the Stile will be available in 3 variants Base, LS and LX. Base variant is an 8-seater and a mid (LS) and top-end version (LX) with the option of captain chairs for the second row or the 60:40 split bench from the base trim. The Evalia and the Stile will share the production line, key changes made on the Stile based on customer feedback received for the Evalia are expected to be rolled out on the Nissan MPV as well.

Ashok Leyland calls the Stile as a Multi-Functional Vehicle to run it as hotel shuttles, taxi services, tour operators, BPO outfits, ambulances, panel vans, courier services, inter-city and intra-city travel. Also you can register the Stile for personal use if you wish to, though ALL is looking to target fleet users. And compared to Nissan Evalia, the Stile will be priced less targeting the commercial MPV/panel van buyers.
