Showcased first at 2016 Auto Expo, Piaggio Vehicles Pvt Ltd has already started testing the Aprilia SR 150 scooter in the Indian soil. The report claims that it is scheduled for launch in August-2016.
Spotted outside the company’s dealership in Pune, the sources claim that the Aprilia SR 150 was on the way to undergo the homologation process at ARAI (Automotive Research Association of India) facility in Chakan. Further, this stylish Italian scooter will be produced at Piaggio’s production facility in Baramati, Maharashtra.
The company calls it as India’s first ‘sport-scooterbike’. Powering the Aprilia SR 150 is the same engine used in the Piaggio Vespa 150. It is the 154.4 cc air-cooled single-cylinder carbureted engine with 3-valves that produces 11.4 BHP @ 7000 rpm, and a peak torque of 11.5 Nm @ 5500 rpm, paired to a CVT transmission.
Produced-locally the Aprilia SR 150 will command an affordable price tag of below Rs. 1 lakh, ex-Showroom.
