Skoda are very much likely to be bringing the next iteration of the Octavia premium sedan to India. The Octavia is currently Skoda’s highest selling model here and is the second in its segment, only behind the Toyota Corolla Altis. Launch is expected to happen by the end of 2020.
The next-gen Octavia will be based on an updated version of the Volkswagen Group’s MQB platform. It will feature Skoda’s latest design theme, as seen on models like the Scala hatchback and the Kamiq SUV abroad. Skoda will bring the new Octavia here after launching it in various markets abroad during mid-2020.
It will feature a host of changes compared to the current model. The most significant change other than the exterior will be that of its interior. Skoda will give the next-generation Octavia a much more premium cabin, which will also have a lot going for it in the features list.
Coming to its engine, the next-generation Octavia will come powered by a 1.5 litre TSI turbo-petrol motor. There is also a possibility of a 2.0 litre diesel motor being introduced on the vehicle here. Both these engines will meet the current BS-VI emission norms, which will be in effect at the time of launch of the vehicle.
The Octavia, like other models from Skoda, will have a lot of safety features as standard. By virtue of this, we can expect Skoda to introduce the premium sedan at a price tag of Rs.15-20 lakh. When launched, the Octavia will lock horns with the Toyota Corolla Altis, Honda Civic and the Hyundai Elantra.
